Cat Hoarding - North Fort Myers RV Park
In March 2010 Animal Services Officers, with assistance from the Lee County Sheriff's Office to secure a search warrant, rescued more than a dozen cats from a trailer home located in the Sunseekers RV Park. Officers had worked with the owner of the cats for several months in an attempt to get her to clean up her property and sterilize and vaccinate her cats. She refused all offers of help despite the fact that it would be provided free through Animal Services programs for economically disadvantaged pet owners. The cats were rescued from the deplorable conditions and treated for illness by Animal Services' staff veterinarian. Animal Services is currently petitioning the court for legal custody of the cats and will place them up for adoption.
