   Fort Myers

Markland Ave - This tethered dog dug himself a hole so he could get under a plastic carrier for shade. Markland Ave - The only water provided the dog was contaminated.  He had visible sores on his back.
Lucille Ave - A small dog was tied up using an electrical cord as a tether. Lucille Ave - A second small dog was also tethered underneath the van.
Pauldo St - These dogs were tethered to a fence and given only a sheet of plywood for shade. Pauldo St - One dog barely had enough lead to reach a bucket of water and the other could not reach it at all.

East Fort Myers

Pawnee St - A dog was tethered to a trampoline (his only shade) and his water bucket was empty. Pawnee St - The dog's face was covered with flies.
Prospect Ave - A tethered dog managed to dig out from under the owner's fence and became stuck on the other side. Prospect Ave - He strained to escape but the short tether restricted him from moving more than a few inches in either direction.
New St - The owner of this puppy thought it would be safer if he chained the dog around its waist. New St - The chain became a means of potential injury to the puppy by tightening around its abdomen whenever it tried to move.
Prospect Ave - LCDAS did not receive a call about this tethered dog until it was near death.  The dog could barely stand, was extremely malnourished and had lost all the hair on his body except for his head.  His nails were several inches long. Prospect Ave - The dog was impounded due to the severity of his condition and taken to LCDAS for immediate veterinary care.  Unfortunately, he died the next day.  Necropsy results determined that a corn cob (the only food he apparently could find) had obstructed his intestines and caused his death.

North Fort Myers

Coon Rd - This dog was tethered to a truck bumper.  He was able to dig a hole but could not escape. Coon Rd - His food and water bowl were bone dry.

South Fort Myers

2nd Ave - A dog was chained to a tree. 2nd Ave - Her bowls were empty except for dirt and leaves.
2nd Ave - Although she was in poor condition and had visible sores around her eyes and other areas her owner had been breeding her. Morris Rd - This dog's tether became wrapped around a tree and the owner's porch.  He was unable to reach his food  and his movement was restricted to an extremely small area so that he could not reach water or food.
Kentucky Rd - A puppy became tangled on its tether and died of dehydration due to heat and lack of water. Kentucky Rd - The owner admitted that the puppy's death was due to his own negligence.  He knew there were objects in the yard (the blocks and a pipe around which the puppy was tangled) that could cause injury to the puppy but he was in a hurry to get to work.

Cape Coral

SW 3rd Ave - One of two dogs tethered to a hammock. SW 3rd Ave -  The dogs struggled to move but their range was extremely limited.  What little space they had was almost completely in the sun.
NE 25th Ave - This puppy was tethered to a bush. NE 25th Ave - The puppy panted to try and cool himself.  He could not reach any shade.

Lehigh Acres

Navajo - This dog was tethered to a worn out dog house which was his only means of shelter.  He had dug holes in the yard from boredom and frustration.
