FINDING YOUR LOST PET
Do not rely on this
site as the sole source for finding your pet. At any time up to
300 animals are provided care at the shelter. We take in approximately
1,400 animals each month. Animals on our "Lost Pets Search" are listed by breed and
description. Please remember they will be listed by the breed or mix that we
think represents the animal. It may be different from what you know the breed
to be. Whenever possible we try to have pictures available. Pictures are provided for as many pets as possible to aid owners
in identifying their pets. Even when available, photos are not intended to
replace in-person, visual identification.
If you register your lost pet online please be advised that pet registrations filed on this site are not forwarded to Lee County Animal Services. You must fill out the missing pet report in person. Lee County Animal Services cannot be responsible for your failure to claim your pet. You must do this in person and provide proof of ownership such as a county license or veterinary records. Lost pets can only be held for five (5) days due to space. Do not delay looking for your pet.
ADOPTING A LOST PET
Animals featured only in this section of our website are not available for
adoption. Although adoptable pets that are not claimed may be put up for
adoption, we cannot guarantee they will be available immediately following the
five (5) day holding period. Their availability is based on space and
their health at the time. Under no circumstances is the public allowed to
visit a pet for the purpose of adopting it that is still in the stay kennels.
